Training your dog is not rocket science, it can however test anybody's patience if they don't know what to do and if the training is not done in the right way or at the right times.

Training your dog is very similiar to how you would bake a cake, roof a house or even more closely, raise a child, an old adage comes to mind "there's a time and place for everything", which holds true when you want to train your dog.

When you train your dog to "sit" you must first get his attention with a treat, position yourself right in front of him so you can back him up into sitting down then reward him with the treat.

Baking your cake requires that the yeast be incorporated into the dough but only after it has been mixed with warm water and let to activate, if you put the yeast in dry the cake will fall flat, but after those little yeast guys have awakened you are then ready to stir them into the dough to rise the cake into the beautiful pastry your entire family may enjoy.

When you train your dog to "fetch" you must first let him know it's a game and throw around his favorite toy, then highly praise him when he brings the toy to you on command.

Roofing your house requires that the shingles are adequate for the structure of the home then be placed on systematically with the right kind of nails but only if the weather is not so extreme as to hamper the proper setting of the shingles (ie. if there are wind gusts of 50 mph, it's not a good idea to put shingles on that day and it's not a good idea to roof your house the day after a rainstorm) but after the installation you have a beautiful roof your entire family may enjoy.

When you train your dog to "rollover" you must first gain his trust by playing peek-a-boo over his eyes, then after you've taught him to "sit" and "lay down" rollingover is a breeze for your dog to learn.

Raising your child requires all the love and attention you can give, but the child also requires discipline, the earliar the better. When a child is bad, toys may be taken away and given back, but only after the child demonstrates remorse to his or her bad behavior, this will ensure that he or she will understand bad behavior is a no-no, and grows into the happy and beautiful human being your entire family may enjoy.

Training your dog requires consistency, love and patience, remember they talk "dog" not human, your actions speak louder to him than your words, if your not communicating in a way he can understand, you throwing a tantrum when your dog urinates in the house is not going to help the situation.

You must realize too, that an ole' dog CAN learn new tricks if you know what to do to initiate a good response. I've found that when you do anything the right way, at the right times your endeavoral outcomes will always be successful and when you train your dog the right way, at the right times, you and your dog will have the beautiful relationship your entire family may enjoy.
